There's nothing like a blank white canvas with splashes of vivid colour to create a sunny, bright and happy looking home. And nobody seems to do it quite so well as the Scandinavians.

I first went to Design Festa in 2008 and I was blown away, and couple of weeks ago when I was in Tokyo I went for the third time. You can read my previous posts here. Design Festa is so full of fabulous energy and thousands of exhibitors (I think there were 7,000 this time). I walked around for 6 hours non stop and still didn't get to see any installation art or performances. It's huge! I didn't take any close ups of people's work this time, but you can see some on previous posts, and I'll show you what I bought soon. It's not all as outlandish as these photos might lead you to believe!
On the weekend we went to Palm Beach (just over an hour north of central Sydney) and had the most glorious, relaxed, fun day celebrating a friend's birthday. Although it's almost winter, the day was pretty warm and perfect and the kids spent the entire day running on the sand, splashing in the water and climbing on the rocks. With only a short break for lunch.
My bedroom is a work in progress. When I showed it to you the other week it was pretty much all white, but I needed more colour. I have a plan to make a quilt - all the fabric is cut, but I have to get in and actually make it. It will have lots of white in it with splashes of colour, which is pretty much how I like my entire home to be.
So until the quilt is made I have injected some colour with, you guessed it, cushions.
Well, if you know me you'll know that really this is far from my first blog post about cushions, but it's the first one for today.
When my friend Steph recently blogged about Curio & Curio I discovered their hand screen printed, limited edition Dot Cushions. I knew that I just had to have one. It's totally fab, and positively glows, particularly on dull days. Here it is on my new totally sensible and extremely comfy linen sofa. It's cosying up to another fave, the Ribbons cushion from Pony Rider.
