Recently Erin from Design for Mankind featured one of Takashi Iwasaki's embroidered art works. I was so engaged by Takashi's lovely piece that I had to check out more of his work and I was blown away when I did. Takashi, at 27 years old, has an impressive body of mostly abstract work in various mediums. These lovely collages make me smile...

His embroidered pieces are just beautiful...
But it's Takashi's paintings which stole my heart.

What a lovely way to end the week! Have a great weekend lovelies. I will probably go to the COFA Spring Fair tomorrow. See you there?

Etsy Search Top 10 :: Kokeshi

It's been too long since I've done an Etsy search Top 10 and I'm into kokeshi dolls at the moment so I had a poke around Etsy using 'kokeshi' as my keyword search. I thought I'd share some that are not so traditional.
And if you'd like to make some of your own here are some places to buy blank forms. I recently bought some from Goose Grease Undone... but the little spool ones are so adorable I might have to get some of those too... Oh, and I just love the shapes of the ones from Rapture!

Inspiration :: Petra Storrs
London based Petra Storrs has an impressive portfolio of set, prop and stage design, costume design and illustration.
The costumes below are made of paper... the detail in their construction and the execution is mind blowing. They're amazing, aren't they?

From the amazing to the absolutely incredible... Petra designed and constructed a mirror dress stage costume or Paloma Faith (the white paper dress was also for Paloma). You can see the music clip featuring the mirror dress on Petra's website.

Revisiting :: Marimekko Style
I was catching up on reading Marimekko's blog always mod last week and I discovered that they have a new range of wallpaper, and in Finland you can get a Marimekko Mastercard. How fabulous is that!
It reminded me of a post I wrote this time last year about my seventies style Marimekko childhood and I thought it would be worth a revisit.

together with a vase which belonged to my husband's grandmother
(although, obviously not from the seventies).
