Parkhaus: Bliss in Wool Felt

10 November 2008

There's something about wool felt that really appeals to me, perhaps it's that it has the qualities of a textile, but its sturdiness gives it a multitude of applications. It's beautifully tactile and soft to touch, while at the same time it's quite rigid.

That's why I'm loving the beautiful wool felt products from Parkhaus Berlin. I'm particularly coveting the woven 'baskets'.

This 'snowflake' curtain is a sculptural felt jigsaw made from individual interlocking felt pieces.

I discovered Parkhaus via my favourite magazine Selvedge, you may remember I featured their gorgeous Bunny egg warmers when I raved about Selvedge here.

I *Heart* Fridays: I *Heart* Vintage Vases

06 November 2008

OK, I know it's Thursday - in fact it's still Wednesday in a lot of countries - but I'm having tomorrow off, so I figured I'd post my I *Heart* Fridays piece a day early, rather than skipping it all together.

I absolutely *heart* these vintage vases I scored last week on ebay for the bargain price of $10 each. They are in immaculate condition and I just love the sculptural deco shapes and the sunny, eggy yellow.

Happy Thursday/Friday!
See you on Monday.

T2 and tea too

I felt like a tourist doing it, but I had to take a snap of this wonderful T2 shopfront at my local shopping centre.

T2 also boasts a very stylish interior with dark timber fittings and asian newspapers as wallpaper. The staff are friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable, and there are a lot of teas on offer for tasting as well as every tea accessory you could imagine. Visit the T2 website here for more info, store locations and online shop.

I'm not a fan of black tea, but love all the other varieties. Some of my favourite teas from T2 are:
Buddha's Tears, made from green tea and Jasmine flowers rolled into small balls. When you pour water over the 'tears' they gently blossom and the fragrant flowers float in your cup.
T2 Organic Peppermint is naturally sweet and delicious.
Creme Brulee - a dessert substitute, it's so sweet and yummy.
Sencha Mango made from green tea and mango pieces.
Turkish Apple Tisane - fruity and refreshing (but it has LOTS of sugar in it).
They're also delicious and refreshing when made into big jugs of iced tea.
Once you start it's hard to stop!

This tea website has lots of recipes using tea as an ingredient. If you're feeling adventurous you could try making Noodles with Jasmine Green Tea Broth, Lavender Ice Cream, or Honey Garlic Green Tea Shrimp.

Contemporary Calligraphy

I love contemporary calligraphy and Betsy Dunlap does some beautiful work. A couple of days ago she and illustrator Shanna Murray launched their etsy shop Hello Handmade. They had a lot of exposure in the blogosphere and their shop has already all but sold out. There's more goodness to come though, so keep an eye on Hello Handmade.

Be sure to take a look at Shanna's esty shop too - she has some gorgeous things for sale.
