Rachel Davidson Brown, a former stylist (for magazines such as Donna Hay, Inside Out, Vogue), has created a beautifully design range of homewares called attia. The range is so simple and minimal, with a warm and organic feel.

Crochet with the Owls
Last Sunday morning I met up with the lovely Owls for crafting, coffee (tea for me) and a chat. I really enjoyed catching up with the other gals after my lack of attendance at Brown Owls for so long. We were joined by former Brissy Owl Steph, who's now my near neighbour in Sydney. Yay!
I took along my granny squares, but when I saw Manu's breathtaking crochet blanket I fell instantly in love and ditched my plain old grannies.
Amy very patiently taught me how to make a magic ring (and she sent me this link as a refresher) and guided me through the process to create my first Flower Sunburst Granny Square.
This is a different block that Amy whipped up in no time at all:
And lovely Fran was stitching away, embroidering a favourite passage onto floral fabric. Very impressive and gorgeous!
I just clicked over to Fran's blog to link to it and found this photo of Amy and I engrossed in my crochet... well, I'm engrossed, and Amy's being patient!
I've organised a craft circle for tonight with some of the mums and teachers from Roxy's school, so I'm looking forward to continuing on with my crochet and spending time with some more lovely women.
What does your weekend look like? I hope you manage some quiet creative time too. Enjoy!
x
Lisa
Edit/update: This is Sarah's version of the sunburst, and here's a link to the pattern she uses.

Amy Butler does Wallpaper
Amy Butler has teamed up with Graham & Brown to create a new line of wallpaper in her signature vibrant style. I'm loving the retro vibe of the design in the second image. It's always interesting to see how colour selection impacts on a design isn't it? It looks quite retro in the main image, but in the swatches down the side not so much.
I have so much admiration for Amy. She has created such a strong successful brand and expanded her reach from her start in fabrics to paper goods, craft, homewares and fashion. And from all reports she is a generous, humble and gorgeous woman. So inspirational!

More on bags
You may have gathered from the previous post I'm looking around for a new messenger-style bag. The other one I'm coveting is this fabulous green leather bag by The Leather Store. I adore the colour even though it's not something I'd usually go for. I like that the Ella since Osix bags and this one are totally different... perhaps I need to buy both.
I'm also onto this one...
but perhaps the red is too red?
Have you seen anything you think I might like?

Etsy find :: Ella since Osix
Hello! I hope you had a lovely weekend. And so another week begins... and I can't think of a better way to start off than with some gorgeous and funky vintage fabric love.
I have a desperate need to buy one of these fab bags made from vintage fabrics by Etsy seller Ella since Osix. (I initially thought Osix was a Dutch word, until I read that it's actually O Six, as in 2006. LOL. I'm a bit slow sometimes!) The only problem is that I can't decide which bag to get. I love them all. And there are even more in Ella's shop to make my choice even harder. What do you think?
I also clicked over to Ella's flickr and found these lovely little dresses and photos of her market stalls and a shop she shares with her husband.
And check out her fabric stash. Vintage fabrics on bolts. Oh my! I'm green now.

Happy Monday
Do you remember the 80's band The Happy Mondays? I was quite a fan at the time. But this post isn't about 80's music nostalgia... I just wanted to check in and say hello and wish you a lovely start to the week.
I'm sitting here on Monday night doing the maths... I have 60 more hours to get the bulk of the order packed and ready. Mum duties, other orders and design deadlines erode a lot of those hours and I'm running against the clock. So blogging will have to take a back seat for a few days. Along with sleep and personal life it seems.
Happy Monday my friends. I'll try to post in the next couple of days, once I have this under control. Read more...
Inspiration :: Angie Lewin
Angie Lewin's illustrations and pattern design have a distinctive style that comes from her printmaking background. I was inspired to find more of her work when I discovered the gorgeous fabrics she designed for Liberty's new season fabric collection.
I love the top fabric which comes in four colour ways (of course this one is sold out already... but I don't need it really, do I).
Despite the retro colour palette and feel, and the natural motifs being common themes these days, Angie's illustrations have a lovely freshness and unique quality that makes them stand out from the pack.

Mathilda's Market
As always Mathilda's was a great day. It was packed with beautiful stalls and eager shoppers. Roxy bought a sleepy cloud to add to her big collection of cute softies from Gifts Created, and named it Cloudy with a Chance of Rainbows. I think she must be Sarah's best customer! She also had her face beautifully painted by a fairy in colours to match her ballet clothes (she was on her way to ballet), and scored a lovely orange flower clip from Plushka. Katia made it especially for her after seeing Roxy wearing her overcoat in exactly the same colour when we were at Handmade Market in Canberra. Thanks Katia :)
The top and bottom photos show half of my stall and some of the Ooshkas I made. They looked so colourful all lined up.
So now I'll start preparing for the next markets, which will be a big weekend: Handmade on Saturday 11 September, and Mathilda's the following day - both in Canberra. Hang on, who am I kidding... I'm not organised enough to start my prep now!
Maybe I'll see you in Canberra?

giveaway :: Better Homes & Gardens LIVE tickets
Australian magazine Better Homes & Gardens is going live in Sydney in October and I have a bunch of tickets to giveaway.
At the event you'll be able to wander around beautifully designed room sets and show gardens to pick up inspiration for your home. There'll be new home and garden products to try and buy, free seminars, and workshops for one-on-one hands-on advice. It sounds like fun doesn't it. Of course there will also be inspiring talks and demos from Better Homes & Gardens personalities, including Graham Ross, Tara Dennis, Rob Palmer, Jason Hodges, ‘Fast’ Ed Halmagyi and Dr Harry.
These are some of the things that will be happening:
Make, Create and Decorate is a showcase of home decorating ideas, style advice, creative projects and inspiration to make your home more beautiful. Presented by Better Homes and Gardens presenters Rob Palmer and Tara Dennis as well as other experts from the world of DIY, renovations, craft and interior design.
Love Cooking Theatre gives you a chance to see TV chef 'Fast' Ed transform restaurant cuisine into recipes you can prepare at home.
The Pet & Outdoor Living Stage will be the place for live demonstrations and talks on garden styles and landscaping from Better Homes and Gardens presenters Graham Ross and Jason Hodges and pet advice from TV vet Dr Harry Cooper.
There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy in the Kidzone including face painting, balloon animals, a petting zoo and a craft area. So you can even take the time to sit back and relax with a glass of wine at the Hardy’s Wine Bar and grab a bite to eat at one of the three cafés. Or visit Garnier World, where the Garnier World Team will be offering complimentary hairstyles, massages and skincare consultations using products from the entire Garnier range. Nice one!

The Scandinavians seem to do white interiors to perfection. I love the overall sense of pure whiteness with pops of colour.
